Blouin Division is pleased to present Mise au foyer, an exhibition offering a retrospective look at the work of artist Nicolas Baier.

With Mise au foyer, we are invited to journey back in time to see Baier’s work with renewed clarity. This retrospective offers a fresh interpretation of more than two decades of artistic creation, with works reassembled and reorganized in new ways. By revisiting images, formats, and technologies — moving from painting, to Photoshop, and finally to artificial intelligence — new dialogues emerge between the pieces. Mise au foyer functions as a fluid montage between past and present, where each recontextualization reveals new meanings and narratives.

Nicolas Baier, born in Montreal, holds a degree in Fine Arts from Concordia University (1994). Initially focused on photography, his practice has expanded to include sculpture and scientific imagery, exploring the invisible, the infinitely large, and the infinitely small. His work probes the human condition, knowledge, and the vanity of existence.

He has exhibited in Canada, the United States, and Europe, including at Blouin Division, the National Gallery of Canada, MASS MoCA, and the Canadian Cultural Centre in Paris. Recipient of the Pierre-Ayot Prize (2000) and the Louis-Comtois Prize (2015), Baier has also created several public art projects, including Autoportrait (2012) at Place Ville-Marie in Montreal. His works are held in numerous public and private collections.
